Manchester United transfer target and Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has reportedly agreed to join Barcelona next summer

According to reports in Spain, Manchester United transfer target Ruben Neves has reportedly agreed to join Barcelona at the end of the season.

Man United showed strong interest in the Wolves midfielder in January in a bid to solve their defensive crisis but the Red Devils couldn’t get the deal across the line due to a few factors.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was a huge admirer of the Portugal international and reportedly tried to sign him last year to add more quality legs in the midfield but United chiefs failed in their pursuit.

Although Manchester United parted ways with the Norwegian and replaced him with Ralf Rangnick on a temporary basis, the 25-year-old was linked with a winter move to Old Trafford.

United went against signing the central midfielder because they didn’t view Rangnick as a long-term project and thought signing the Wolves midfielder could turn out to be surplus to requirements under their next permanent manager.

Erik ten Hag was appointed as Solskjaer’s permanent manager earlier this year and the Dutchman didn’t identify the Wolves tireless midfielder as a transfer target, hence proving United’s transfer chiefs right.

The former Ajax manager signed Casemiro from Real Madrid in the last transfer market and that has seemingly ended United’s transfer saga around the Wolves midfielder, who was rated £50million at the time.

According to Diario Sport, Ruben Neves has agreed to move to Barcelona at the end of the season as it’s no longer feasible that his move to the Theatre of Dreams would go through in the nearest seasons.

Ruben Neves has played in all of Wolves’ seven Premier League matches this season so far and has scored only once. Last season he managed 33 appearances but returned four goals and two assists during the span.
