Casemiro is reportedly in line to make his first Premier League start for Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is reportedly in line to make his first start in the Premier League since his summer arrival from Real Madrid.

Erik ten Hag, who failed in his attempt to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong over the summer, turned his attention on Real star Casemiro and signed him in a transfer fee that could rise to €70million.

The Brazilian midfielder was unveiled at Old Trafford in August and watched how Manchester United beat Liverpool 2-1 at the Theatre of Dreams.

Many expected Erik ten Hag to throw him right into the starting lineup, thanks to the name he’s made for himself at Santiago Bernabeu, but the opposite was the case due to Scott McTominay’s superb run of form.

The Scot started United’s Premier League games against Southampton, Leicester City, Arsenal and Manchester City, while Casemiro started as a substitute in all four games.

Ten Hag brought on the 30-year-old for McTominay in the second half against Man City and put out a better performance than the Scotland international.

There are suggestions that the former Real Madrid midfielder has won his place in the team with his City performance and Fabrizio Romano has claimed that he is in line to start against Everton.

Manchester United will face the Toffees at the weekend in the Premier League and will look to bounce back to winning ways after last weekend’s massive 6-3 defeat to Man City.

Before the trip, United will face Omonia away from home on Thursday in the Europa League. United won Sheriff Tiraspol 2-0 before the international break to advance their chances of catching up with first place Real Sociedad.

Casemiro is expected to start against the Cyprus side as Erik ten Hag will look to form a new formidable starting lineup, just as he did before that resulted in a four-match winning run in the league.
