In an effort to fortify their attacking prowess, the club is reportedly eyeing the acquisition of Sporting CP winger Marcus Edwards.

According to a detailed report from Football Transfers , Manchester United is actively pursuing the 25-year-old winger, with Ineos, the recent co-owners of the club, identifying him as a potential solution to bolster the team’s offensive capabilities, particularly in light of Antony’s struggles this season.

Confidence emanates from Old Trafford, as the club reportedly believes they can secure the services of Marcus Edwards for a transfer fee of £30 million, either in the current transfer window or during the upcoming summer window.

The statistics paint a promising picture for Edwards in the current season. With 13 starts in the Primeira Liga, he has directly contributed to eight goals, scoring four and providing four assists.

Across all competitions, including league matches, Edwards has netted six goals and delivered five assists for Sporting CP, who currently lead the league table in Portugal.

Should the speculated deal materialize for £30 million, it could potentially send shockwaves through the squad, particularly impacting Brazilian winger Antony, who has struggled to make an impact since his high-profile £80 million move in the summer of 2022.

The potential addition of Marcus Edwards could bring a dynamic shift to Manchester United’s attacking lineup and provide a remedy to their ongoing challenges in the final third.
