Manchester City will host Manchester United at Etihad on Sunday in what is said to be the first Manchester derby the Premier League this season
Manchester United will lock horns with city rivals Manchester City next month in the Premier League and down below is our unbiased combined starting lineup for the derby.
Man United are on a four-match winning run, having emerged victorious in games against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester City and Arsenal.
The Red Devils maintained one starting lineup in all four league games, but unfortunately, not all of the United players made our combined starting lineup cut.
Manchester City have also impressed this season, beating Wolves 3-0 away from home before the international break, although the Wanderers were forced to play the majority of the game with ten men.
A good number of players have been consistent under Pep Guardiola’s guidance this season, which includes the likes of De Bruyne, Dias, Cancelo and Foden.
As a result, bookmakers have touted Manchester City as the strong favourites to start the month of October with all three points but that hasn’t ruled out any chance of Manchester United pulling off an upset at the blue side of Manchester.
GK: Ederson
DF: Cancelo, Varane, Dias, Malacia
MF: De Bruyne, Rodri, Eriksen
FW: Foden, Haaland, Rashford
Marcus Rashford has been superb for Manchester United in recent games, scoring two and providing two assists in United’s two league games against Leicester City and Arsenal.
There are speculation across social media that the England international has won the Premier League Player of the Month of September. Although it hasn’t been official yet, it only shows that the 24-year-old’s current form hasn’t gone under the carpet.
Bruno Fernandes wasn’t included in our combined starting lineup, although he’s had some interesting moments for Manchester United, scoring the match-winning goal against Southampton and providing an assist during United’s 3-1 win over Arsenal earlier this month.
Bernado Silva and Jadon Sancho missed out, although both have been great at their respective clubs. However, should Rashford miss the game through an injury he suffered against Arsenal, either Bernando Silva or Jadon Sancho would come in for him.
Rashford has missed United’s last two games against Real Sociedad and Sheriff Tiraspol due to an injury but the Sun reported this week than the Manchester United academy graduate has been training, hence winning the race to be fit for the Manchester derby.
