Reports from Fichajes suggest that a surprise move for the 24-year-old Spanish fullback could be in the works.

Having initially risen through the ranks at Girona, Porro caught the attention before making a move to Manchester City in the summer of 2019. However, his tenure with the English club didn’t unfold as planned, leading to his departure in the summer of 2022. Porro subsequently found his footing at Sporting CP, where he had already spent two seasons on loan.

The Spanish fullback’s impressive performances at Sporting CP earned him a return to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur in the winter of 2023. Initially a loan move, the deal was later made permanent last summer.

Throughout the ongoing season, Porro has continued to shine, making 20 appearances in all competitions and contributing to eight goals. This notable form has not gone unnoticed, particularly by Guardiola, who is keen on bringing the player back to Manchester City.

Guardiola sees Porro as an ideal fit for the club and a potential successor to the 33-year-old Kyle Walker. Despite the presence of Rico Lewis in City’s ranks, Porro’s experience gives him a competitive edge. Although Porro’s contract with Tottenham runs until the summer of 2028, Manchester City is reportedly willing to explore the possibility of securing his services.

A final decision on Porro’s potential return to Manchester City is expected in the coming months, adding an intriguing twist to the transfer market narrative.
