Manchester City’s pursuit of Wolves midfielder Matheus Nunes has taken a promising turn. After a period of contemplation over whether to proceed with the deal, the Etihad-based club has indeed had their offer accepted. This strategic move by Manchester City underlines their determined efforts to bolster their squad’s midfield contingent, especially given the unfortunate long-term hamstring injury sustained by Kevin De Bruyne.

Despite their earlier setbacks in failing to secure the signatures of Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice earlier in the transfer window, the situation was further compounded by the departure of former captain Ilkay Gundogan, who opted to embrace a new challenge at Barcelona rather than extend his tenure at the Etihad Stadium.

Recent reports, notably from the reputable Fabrizio Romano, have shed light on a potential breakthrough in negotiations between Manchester City and Wolves. An agreement, by all accounts, seems to have been forged between the two parties.

According to these reports, Manchester City is believed to have consented to a substantial fee of £50 million in order to secure the services of the Portuguese midfielder. However, this figure falls short of the initial valuation put forth by Wolves.

Intriguingly, part of the intricacies within the arrangement suggests that 21-year-old Tommy Doyle will be making his way in the opposite direction. Doyle, a budding midfielder, is poised to join Wolves as part of this exchange. Having spent the previous season on loan at Sheffield United, Doyle showcased his talents and played a pivotal role in their successful bid for promotion to the Premier League.
