Manchester City received a much-needed boost ahead of their upcoming match against Arsenal, as Phil Foden returned to training after undergoing surgery for appendicitis.

Foden’s absence had been felt in recent weeks, with the midfielder missing key Premier League games against Liverpool, Southampton, and Leicester, as well as City’s Champions League quarter-final first-leg win over Bayern Munich.

Foden has been one of Pep Guardiola’s standout performers this season, having scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 36 appearances in all competitions. His return to training means that he could potentially feature in the crucial return leg against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

Guardiola’s men are currently trailing league leaders Arsenal by just four points, but have a game in hand. After their Champions League clash, City will face Championship side Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-finals before a crucial top-flight showdown against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden’s return to fitness will come as a huge boost for Guardiola, who will be hoping to secure a treble this season. With Foden back in the mix, City will undoubtedly have an extra edge as they push for glory in the coming weeks.
