Manchester City are on the verge of making a significant move in the summer transfer window. The club’s sights are set on securing their first signing, and all signs point to Mateo Kovacic as their prime target.

With uncertainties surrounding some of their key midfielders, Manchester City officials have made it a top priority to reinforce their midfield options. As per ESPN’s reputable journalist, James Olley, the English champions are tantalizingly close to completing a deal estimated at around €40 million/£34.2 million for the acquisition of Chelsea’s talented midfielder, Mateo Kovacic.

Promising progress has been made in the recent negotiations between the two clubs. A general consensus on the transfer fee has been reached, paving the way for more detailed discussions regarding the payment structure. Although there are still a few minor details to iron out, the prevailing expectation is that a deal will be wrapped up within the next two weeks, securing the services of the 29-year-old Croatian international.

The outstanding issue currently under scrutiny revolves around the upfront payment to be made by Manchester City to Chelsea. Nevertheless, despite this minor hurdle, it appears highly likely that Kovacic will soon don the sky blue jersey and join Pep Guardiola’s formidable squad at the Etihad Stadium.

The imminent arrival of Mateo Kovacic would undoubtedly bolster Manchester City’s midfield ranks, providing additional depth and quality to an already formidable lineup.
