Manchester City is in advanced negotiations with River Plate for the acquisition of 17-year-old midfielder Claudio Echeverri.
The Premier League club appears to be close to finalizing an agreement with the Argentine side for the promising young player. Should the deal proceed, Manchester City is likely to implement a loan-back arrangement, allowing Echeverri to remain with River Plate until the conclusion of the Premier League season—a strategy reminiscent of the approach taken with Julián Álvarez.
Julián Álvarez, who joined City in January 2022, continued to play for River Plate until the subsequent summer, contributing significantly to City’s achievements in various competitions.
The prospective signing of Claudio Echeverri by Manchester City from River Plate, coupled with a loan-back provision, is advancing. Interestingly, Echeverri has attracted attention from Barcelona as well.
While it is not anticipated that Manchester City will make first-team signings in January, there is contemplation of several departures, including Kalvin Phillips, Zach Steffen, and Sergio Gomez.
