Manchester United are reportedly setting their sights on Real Valladolid’s promising young defender Ivan Fresneda, according to exclusive information from Football Insider.

The 18-year-old Spaniard has impressed during his breakthrough season in La Liga, with 12 appearances in all competitions, including seven starts in the league.

Fresneda’s performances have not gone unnoticed, as both Arsenal and Newcastle were said to be interested in securing his signature during the January transfer window. While the Gunners were reportedly close to signing the talented youngster, a move failed to materialize.

Now, Manchester United officials are said to have been monitoring Fresneda in recent weeks and are taking steps towards a potential transfer.

Although Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a departure from Old Trafford in recent months, the right-back has remained at the club after impressing manager Erik ten Hag, who has given him plenty of opportunities following the World Cup.

However, if Wan-Bissaka does leave the club in the summer, Fresneda could be a viable replacement option and could challenge Diogo Dalot for a spot in the starting lineup. The move could prove to be a wise decision in the long run, and it appears that Manchester United are already exploring the possibility of signing the youngster.

All in all, this is a transfer saga that will undoubtedly be worth following in the coming months, as Manchester United look to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
