Legendary basketball player and five-time NBA champion Magic Johnson have suggested that the game number of Bill Russell, who has passed away at the age of 88, be taken out of circulation.
Commissioner Adam Silver needs to retire the number 6 in the entire NBA in honor of Bill Russell!” – Magic wrote on his social media.
As a reminder, Russell passed away on July 31. He had 11 championship titles in 13 seasons. Throughout his career, Bill played for Boston Celtics. In addition to his 11 titles, Bill was the league MVP five times and participated in the NBA All-Star Game 11 times.
Earlier on Russell’s death, six-time NBA champion and six-time league MVP and association record holder for most points, American Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, spoke out about his death.
