In Liverpool’s ongoing quest to bolster their attacking prowess, Jurgen Klopp has set his sights on AC Milan’s dynamic forward, Rafael Leao. Among the global football giants pursuing the Portuguese star, Liverpool is notably in the mix.
According to insights from journalist Francois Plateau, Liverpool is exploring the possibility of a player-plus-cash deal, with the potential inclusion of their own talent, Luis Diaz, as part of the offer.
Insiders within the Liverpool hierarchy believe that Leao could seamlessly fill the void left by the departure of Sadio Mane. The former Liverpool player made a high-profile move to Bayern Munich before joining Saudi Pro League team Al-Nassr.
At 24 years old, Leao is currently regarded as one of Europe’s most sought-after talents. His impressive track record includes 47 goals in 182 appearances for AC Milan in various competitions since his transition from French club Lille. Notably, his existing contract with Milan extends until the summer of 2028.
While Liverpool previously secured the services of Diaz from Porto, his impact at the club has been hindered by injuries. Since his arrival in January 2022, the Colombian international has managed to score 16 goals in 69 appearances for the Premier League leaders.
The potential interest in Diaz as part of Leao’s replacement remains uncertain, considering Milan’s advantageous position with the Portuguese forward contracted until 2028.
