Liverpool and Arsenal have been informed that acquiring Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz might require a substantial £100 million investment.

The Brazilian international has showcased remarkable prowess at Villa Park, earning recognition as one of the Premier League’s standout players. Unai Emery’s side has surprisingly positioned itself as a top-four contender and even entertained the notion of challenging for the title.

Sources, as reported by Football Insider , reveal that Villa’s valuation is influenced by the transfer fees paid for players like Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo. This has led the Birmingham-based club to set a considerable asking price for Luiz, signaling their determination to retain the talented midfielder.

For Arsenal, the potential addition of Luiz presents an opportunity to address concerns about the injury-prone Thomas Partey. Meanwhile, Jorginho, a solid squad player for the Gunners, faces the inevitable reality of aging and potential departure.

On the Merseyside front, Liverpool’s significant investment in midfield during the summer, with acquisitions such as Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Wataru Endo, came in the wake of departures like Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and James Milner. Despite these signings, there remains speculation that Jurgen Klopp’s side could pursue another substantial move for a midfielder, with Douglas Luiz emerging as a potential target.

However, Liverpool’s historical approach suggests a reluctance to make extravagant financial commitments for high-profile players. It remains to be seen whether the allure of Douglas Luiz’s talents will prompt a departure from their customary transfer strategy.
