Ivory coast international Frank Kessie has reportedly turned down a move to the Premier league to play for Chelsea as he’s determined to fight for a spot in Barcelona.
According to reports from 90min, Franck Kessie, the Barcelona midfielder, has no desire to join Chelsea in the ongoing January transfer window.
Chelsea had reportedly enquired with the Spanish side about recruiting Kessie in an effort to bolster their midfield options.
However, the player himself is not interested in making the move to Stamford Bridge. Instead, the 26-year-old Ivory Coast international wants to fight for his place under Xavi, following a disappointing start to his life at the Camp Nou.
Since moving from AC Milan as a free agent last summer, Kessie has only made 8 appearances in La Liga and has been nothing but a back up to the main stars this season. Despite Chelsea’s interest, it seems as though a deal for the ex-Milan man is unlikely to materialize.
The blues have other options in mind as they have already seen a £50M bid for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moses Caicedo rejected while they’re still keeping tabs on Declan Rice.
