World number 40 Nick Kyrgios has been called to court in Canberra, the Canberra Times reports.

Kyrgios is accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend Chiara Passari in December last year. According to reports, Kyrgios allegedly grabbed Passari. The Australian police confirmed to the publication that he is due to appear in court on August 2.

This is about a domestic relationship. The nature of the charge is serious and Kyrgios is taking it very seriously. With the case pending in court, he will not comment at this stage, but we will issue a press release in due course,” Kyrgios’ lawyer Jason Moffett said, confirming that he was aware of the charges.
