Julen Lopetegui has confirmed Wolves’ interest in Atletico Madrid’s Felipe Monteiro and Matheus Cunha.
Wolves have announced Julen Lopetegui as a new head coach last month, almost five weeks after Bruno Lage’s sacking due to poor team performances.
Following his recent appointment, the Spaniard has been heavily linked with several fellow native teams. The former Villarreal manager was rumored to be on the verge of finalizing Matheus Cunha’s transfer from Atletico Madrid.
Meanwhile, as football insider Fabrizo Romao reported, Cunha is not the only player the Premier League side have their eye on, as a fellow countryman and club-mate Felipe could be included in the ‘double deal.
Speaking to Spanish outlet Cadena SER, the 56-year-old boss confirmed his side’s interest in the Aleti pair.
“We have many options open, at the moment we have nothing done. If we can close them as soon as possible, the better. Both Cunha and Felipe are options to sign in the January market, they are to our liking. The important thing is to create a good group.”
