Counting down Chelsea history, Mohamed Salah ranks among the stars who had the worst spells at Chelsea but left to later become one of the best players in the continent.

The Egyptian joined Chelsea from Basel back in 2014 but failed to find his foot in West London, warranting Chelsea to retire for a sale after just 13 Premier league games across his 2-years stay.

Salah did however spent his 2015 and 2016 outside of Chelsea where he netted 6 goals in 16 games and 14 goals in 34 league games for Fiorentina and AS Roma respectively before he finally left in 2016 to join the Italian side.

A trip to Liverpool came calling for the 30-year-old just after one season with Roma and accepting the deal made him the then club record signing, eclipsing Andy Carroll’s £35m record with a deal that went as high as £43m.

Since taking up the number 11 jersey on his unveiling day, Mohamed Salah has now gone on to net 165 goals in 270 games for The Reds, making him a success in the Premier League after earlier on failing with Chelsea and according to Mikel Obi, his bad Chelsea days could be rightly credited to Jose Mourinho.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Mikel Obi while talking about Jose Mourinho said; “I was scared of Jose Mourinho. I was definitely scared of him. I mean, this guy, the things he did to players, but it’s just a way of him passing his message across, trying to get the best out of the players.”

“I remember what Jose Mourinho did to Mohamed Salah, the guy was crying in the dressing room in the second half. I think he was having a bad game. And then obviously Mourinho came in and ripped into him. Massively ripped into him.”

“Mohamed Salah was in tears. And then what happened, Jose Mourinho didn’t let him back onto the pitch the second half. He took him off. He ripped into him and then got him off.”
