Jan Vertonghen has hit back at his teammate, Kevin De Bruyne who claimed the Belgium team is too old to win the World Cup.
It’s clear that De Bruyne’s statement was channeled that the defense line of Jan Vertonghen and 33-year-old Toby Alderweireld.
However, the side haven’t been great with creating chances in this tournament not to even talk of scoring and that saw them lose 2-0 against Morocco on Sunday.
Belgium now stand a chance of not making it out of the Group with Morocco and Croatia sitting a point ahead.
Speaking after the match, Belgium’s defender; Jan Vertonghen appears to have replied De Bruyne’s too old comment as he said; “We probably attack badly too because we are old too right?”
Belgium will face Croatia on their next clash and without proper focus that could be the end of their journey in the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
