Sixers guard James Harden explained why he made compromises on his contract extension with the club.
We spoke to Daryl Morey, it was explained to me what we can get better at, what the market value of certain players is. I told Morey to make the squad stronger, sign the players we need and already give me the rest of the money. That’s how much I want to win.
I want to fight for the title. That is all I am interested in at this stage. I’m willing to get less if it gives us a better chance of reaching our goal, Harden said.
Harden turned down $15 million for the 22/23 season. He extended his contract for 2 years with a player option for a second season at an annual salary of $34 million.
Philadelphia signed P.J. Tucker this summer for 3 years and 33 million.
