Sandro Tonali has openly acknowledged the possibility of returning to AC Milan in the future.
In a surprising twist, Sandro Tonali, the 23-year-old midfield sensation who recently became Newcastle United’s record signing, has left the door open for a potential return to AC Milan, the club where he made a name for himself. The Magpies secured Tonali’s services for a hefty £55 million deal with the Serie A giants, instantly endearing him to their fans after a remarkable debut goal against Aston Villa on the Premier League’s opening day.
Tonali, now an integral part of Eddie Howe’s squad, has emerged as one of Newcastle’s most valuable assets. However, his recent comments suggest that he hasn’t completely shut the door on reuniting with AC Milan in the future.
During the Magpies’ first Champions League group game against AC Milan, Tonali wore the number eight jersey and played a significant role in the match. While it was an emotional night for the Italian midfielder, it didn’t yield the desired result for Newcastle, as they played out a goalless draw in a tough group that also includes Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain.
“Return to AC Milan one day? I don’t know,” the Italian told Mediaset, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.
“I’d pay to know my future. Maybe yes, maybe not. Football is strange. I’m not closing the door to AC Milan. I can’t and won’t hide my love, passion for Milan.”
After playing 72 minutes in the match before being substituted for Elliot Anderson, Tonali addressed the media, hinting at the uncertainty surrounding his future.
