Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has downplayed the significance of his side’s recent victories over Everton and Newcastle United, insisting that his team will not become complacent in the face of their mini-revival.

Following Monday’s 2-0 win against local rivals Everton, the Reds secured their third away Premier League triumph of the season with another 2-0 victory against top-four contenders Newcastle United on Saturday. This puts Liverpool within striking distance of fourth place, just six points behind their opponents with a game in hand.

However, despite the impressive results, Klopp remains cautious, stating, “I don’t think we are in a position where we can have a big mouth and say we are here. We go again. It is obvious we are in a better place than a couple of weeks ago, but there are still areas for improvement, and we have to show consistency.”

Looking ahead to Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures, Klopp acknowledged that his team must maintain their focus, as they face the challenge of playing Real Madrid in the Champions League next, followed by a difficult away fixture against Crystal Palace.

Liverpool’s current position in the Premier League table, sitting in eighth place with 35 points, is a far cry from their 2019/20 title-winning form.

Nevertheless, Klopp and his players will be hoping to build on their recent performances and mount a charge for a top-four finish and Champions League qualification for next season.
