In a significant development in the Premier League title race, Manchester City’s hopes of retaining their crown have suffered a setback with the absence of Kevin De Bruyne from their squad due to injury. The news comes as a welcome boost to their rivals Arsenal, who are battling for a top-four finish.

Pep Guardiola’s side took on Fulham, making two changes from their previous game against Arsenal, with Riyad Mahrez returning to the starting lineup in place of Bernardo Silva.

However, the absence of their talismanic midfielder De Bruyne, who has been a key contributor for City this season with 7 goals and 18 assists in 29 league appearances, will be a significant loss.

De Bruyne played a pivotal role in City’s recent 4-1 victory over Arsenal, scoring twice and providing an assist. His absence will undoubtedly affect the team’s chances of retaining the title, as they currently sit second, two points off first placed Arsenal with two games in hand.

Despite the setback, City will be hoping that their Argentinian striker Julian Alvarez, who has been drafted into the squad to replace De Bruyne, can step up and make an impact.
