According to the new Chelsea boss, Graham Potter, Chelsea must go through a required process of pain before they can compete for trophies.

The former Brighton manager made these remarks after his side were stormed by Brighton on Sunday in a humbling manager.

Chelsea were a shame to watch on their visit to Amex Stadium as Potter made his first return since leaving for Chelsea with the fans also booing him and Marc Cucurella who also left Brighton for West London.

Despite being Chelsea’s first defeat after a 9-game unbeaten streak, the loss have raised eyebrows on the manager’s team selection skills and tactics.

In reaction to the question marks, Graham Potter has responded saying; “It’s a case of analysing the game, being calm, being fair.

“It’s not about the players necessarily. It’s about all of us, it’s collective, including myself. How we can do better.

“I am responsible as much as the players. Sometimes you get things wrong tactically. It would be easy for me to blame the players after a game but it isn’t as straightforward as that.

“I am okay to say that because ultimately if you want to be a role model for people trying their best and trying to improve you need to be that way yourself.

“I have to do better, we have to do better. We will. People want a simple answer and I get that. But it’s quite complex. There are lots of things involved and I have to start with myself and think about how can I do better?”

The Blues have more mountains to climb before the World Cup break but how many points can they hold onto as they set to battle Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United with all three sides being the top 3 in the Premier League currently.

With the side 6th on the League table after 12 games, Potter have further warned that the supporters be ready for more poor results which are inevitable for his side.

He said: “We got off to a really bad start [against Brighton]. But you have to have that sometimes if you want to make progress. If you think that the line is going to go straight up, it’s impossible.”
