Chelsea’s 2-0 defeat against Tottenham on Sunday saw defender Thiago Silva limping off the pitch with a left knee injury.

The 38-year-old Brazilian appeared to sustain the injury while making a tackle on Harry Kane in the first half, and had to be substituted as a result. Chelsea manager Graham Potter expressed his concern for Silva’s condition, stating that he hopes it is not a serious injury.

Silva’s absence will certainly be felt by the team, as he has been in exceptional form for Chelsea this season.

The experienced defender has played a crucial role in the team this season , and his absence may prove to be a significant blow for Chelsea in their upcoming matches.

Speaking after another disappointing loss, Potter said: “I’m not sure. Hopefully it’s not too serious but I haven’t spoken to the doctor enough to have a diagnosis for you

In the game against Tottenham, Wesley Fofana was brought on as a substitute for Silva. Chelsea’s manager, Potter, confirmed that only Mateo Kovacic missed the game due to illness, while the others were left out of the squad due to unfortunate circumstances.

“Mateo was ill,” he said. “The rest were unfortunate to be out of the squad.”

Chelsea’s squad this season boasts 17 new players, with a total cost of over £500million. With such a strong squad, the team will be hoping to bounce back from their recent defeat and secure positive results in their upcoming fixtures.

However, the potential loss of Silva to injury will undoubtedly be a setback for the team as they continue their campaign in the Premier League and other competitions.
