Caroline Garcia commented on the victory over Emma Raducanu in the second round of Wimbledon.
I am definitely satisfied with my performance. I knew it was going to be a tough match, and it’s never easy to play Center Court for the first time. I am very pleased with how I played the match and gave it my all.
Of course, when an opponent has performed very well in this tournament in the past – and she, of course, is very successful in major tournaments – you know that she will play to the maximum of her abilities. She has already played on Center Court, this is my first time there. I just tried to focus on myself, on my preparation, expected the maximum from her, and tried to show my game, be aggressive, and just go from play to play.
I’m very happy that I won my first big match on Center Court because I don’t have very good memories of the first matches on center courts of other Slams.
It’s all experience, you learn from it. Of course, I am very glad that I gave everything from the first to the last draw.
