Gabriel Jesus has labeled Arsenal’s upcoming clash with Manchester City as a “final”. His comments come in the aftermath of Arsenal’s dropped points against Southampton, where they had to battle from two goals behind to secure a 3-3 draw.

Although the result handed a crucial title initiative to Manchester City, Arsenal’s spirited comeback displayed their tenacity and determination to fight until the end. Bukayo Saka’s last-minute strike earned the Gunners a well-deserved share of the spoils, after captain Martin Odegaard had reduced the arrears moments earlier.

Reflecting on the game, Jesus – who had a brief stint at Arsenal last summer – stressed the importance of approaching every game as a final. “Even if you don’t drop the points we dropped in the last games, nothing changes – it’s a final. Each game is a final, we have to face them like a final. This is the most important game of the season for us,” he said.

Furthermore, Jesus acknowledged the challenges that come with playing in the Premier League, stating, “We have to manage ourselves to come back and be focused again and strong, because anything can happen from now until the end of the season. Like the last two games, it’s two points dropped. With all respect to our opponents tonight, Southampton, they came to play the game of their lives because of the situation they’re in now, and us too. This is the Premier League, it’s so difficult to win this competition. We are not here to always give excuses but it’s a tough league – there are some good games and tough games.”

As Arsenal prepare to travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City, it is clear that the fixture carries significant implications for both sides. With the title race heating up, both teams will be eager to secure a crucial victory in what promises to be an intense battle.
