Last night, Frank Lampard, the interim manager of Chelsea, commended Enzo Fernandez’s performance against Real Madrid.
In a recent post-match interview with Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard, he lauded the performance of Enzo Fernandez in Chelsea’s recent match against Real Madrid. Lampard expressed his confidence in the 22-year-old’s ability to hold down the midfield position for the Blues in the future.
Chelsea suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the reigning champions, spending much of the second half defending following Ben Chilwell’s dismissal. Despite the disappointing result, Lampard spoke highly of Fernandez and his qualities, both on and off the pitch.
Speaking on the return of N’Golo Kante to the squad, Lampard acknowledged the Frenchman’s impact on the team but also urged caution in expecting too much too soon, given Kante’s prolonged absence from the game.
“I think they are both fantastic players. We all know N’golo, to have him back is a big deal, but we also have to respect he was out for a long time and we can’t expect miracles from him every game, even though he’s produced them for us more than enough times.”
Lampard went on to praise Fernandez, remarking on the youngster’s impressive performances since Lampard’s appointment as interim manager. Despite the language barrier, Lampard noted the player’s quality and personality as standout traits and expressed his confidence in the midfield’s future with Fernandez in the squad.
“And Enzo I have been hugely impressed with since I came in because of quality and personality, without even speaking the language yet. I think in terms of the future and the midfield we are in good hands in that sense.”
Chelsea’s next task will be to turn the tide in their favour when they play in England, with the Blues aiming to secure a spot in the Semi-Finals. With the quality of players such as Fernandez in their ranks, Lampard and Chelsea will be looking to make their mark in the upcoming games.
