Reports suggest that Arsenal could face a transfer predicament this summer as Folarin Balogun allegedly has no interest in returning to the club if he’s going to be Mikel Arteta’s third-choice striker.
Arsenal’s transfer prospects appear uncertain ahead of the summer window, with reports indicating that young talent Folarin Balogun is uninterested in returning to the club if he is to be relegated to the role of Mikel Arteta’s third-choice striker.
Having enjoyed a stellar season on loan with Ligue 1 outfit Reims, the 21-year-old forward’s impressive record of 15 league goals, only behind Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe, suggests he has a bright future ahead of him.
However, according to sources at The Times, Balogun will not settle for a reduced role behind Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah at Arsenal. This leaves the Gunners with a delicate situation to manage, as losing such a promising player would be a significant blow to the squad.
While Jesus is expected to remain Arteta’s first-choice, Nketiah has had a commendable season as a backup centre-forward. As such, finding a suitable role for Balogun could prove challenging, although the option of loaning him out again remains a possibility.
Nevertheless, some fans are eager to see Balogun given the chance to showcase his talent in the first team.
As such, Arsenal will need to find a solution that both accommodates the young forward’s potential and satisfies their own needs for a competitive squad.
