In the ever-rolling tide of transfer whispers, recent reports have linked Arsenal with an unexpected move for Barcelona’s defensive talent, Jules Kounde. The intention behind this potential acquisition seems to be to provide cover for the ailing Jurrien Timber. However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano seems to possess reservations concerning the veracity of these transfer murmurs.

The prospect of Kounde’s signature comes at a substantial price, and the prevailing status quo does not seem to indicate any decisive movement on this front. According to an exclusive column on CaughtOffside, both the French international himself and his parent club appear to be in mutual accord, content with their existing arrangement.

“I’m aware there have been some reports of Arsenal looking at Jules Kounde as someone to replace Jurrien Timber.

“My understanding, however, is that both Xavi and Kounde have always been very clear, they want to keep going together at Barca, so at the moment the situation is quiet.

“In any case, Kounde would cost lot of money; not a cheap deal at all. I’m not aware of concrete contacts at this stage.”

Arsenal finds themselves in a rather pressing situation, grappling with the void left by Timber’s unfortunate and extensive injury. The severity of this setback is amplified by the fact that Timber, a promising and versatile asset, was secured from Ajax only earlier in the summer transfer window.

Of intriguing parallel, Kounde boasts a comparable player profile, excelling in both center-back and right-back roles. Nevertheless, the notion of Barcelona relinquishing their grip on him is one that’s shrouded in skepticism.
