Erik ten Hag was pleased with Manchester United’s win over Fulham, although admitted that the hosts dominated the second half after United failed to kill the game off.

Man United secured a tight 2-1 win over Fulham to successfully bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League, having lost to Aston Villa 3-1 at Villa Park last weekend.

Christian Eriksen scored in the first half but his close-range effort was pulled back halfway through the second half. Erik ten Hag brought in Alejandro Garnacho for Anthony Martial and the youngster scored the match winning goal in injury time.

Ten Hag believes Manchester United’s best performance was in the first half but noted that United’s failure to kill the game off when they had a decent chance shortly after the second half handed Fulham the chance to fight back.

“I think in the first half we played quite well and I think we had to score more goals. The difference between us and Fulham had to be bigger after the first half,” Ten Hag told BBC.

“We were only 1-0 up and then a great chance after half-time. And then you see that two halves are never the same and the game changes. Fulham get better and better and more dominant, create chances and get the equaliser.

“The winning has to do with the belief that you can always score. I’m really happy that a sub came in once again – it’s not only 11 players, you need a squad to win trophies and that is what we want.”

Manchester United head into the international break with a 2-1 win over Fulham and remained in the 5th position with 26 points after 14 matches.
