Pep Guardiola claimed Manchester United are on their way back to challenging for trophies and this has caused a response from United manager, Erik ten Hag.

Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola while facing the press, did confess his admiration for Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag’s arrival has suddenly turned the fortunes of Manchester United despite a dismay start of the season.

Since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, the search for his proper replacement has caused Erik ten Hag to be number the 5th permanent manager the Red Devils would be announcing.

Despite going five seasons without a silverware, City Boss applauded the strong performances showcased by his local rivals as he labels them as ‘coming back,’ speaking to reporters the former Barcelona boss said; “I have the feeling United are coming back.”

“Finally United is coming back – I’ve seen it on Thursday [the 3-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol], and against Chelsea in the first half [of the 1-1 draw last weekend].

“I said I like what I see of United right now. There will be a lot of teams like United fighting. That’s why you have to fight to qualify for the Champions League and fight for the title.”

The Red Devils victory over West Ham United saw the home side extend their unbeaten streak to 8 with inform Marcus Rashford netting his 100th goal for United.

Speaking after their victory on Sunday night, Erik ten Hag when asked if he agreed with Pep Guardiola’s ‘come back’ claim said; “I think it’s a bit too quick [to claim Manchester United are ‘coming back].

“In the second half we have to manage it better. But the spirit we have is fabulous.

“We have the quality to score goals, but attacking football effectiveness we have to improve that. But we are going in the direction, but being a threat is a long way to go.”

With United now on the fifth position, Erik ten Hag couldn’t overlook the fact that his boys have are on the direction as he confessed; “At the start, it was difficult but we are coming more and more to that point.

“We do it together, the spirit in the team is good you can see it in every header, they support each other and cover each other.

“The fans like it as well and you can see the bond that is coming and developing between the teams and the fans.”
