Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag says he has no idea why Marcus Rashford’s goal was disallowed, as he reacts to Cristiano Ronaldo’s 700 career club goals.

Man United came from behind to beat Everton 2-1 at the Goodison Park on Sunday night in the Premier League to finally put the Manchester City defeat behind them.

Alex Iwobi scored the opener early in the game but Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal each to turn the game around to favour Manchester United.

Late in the game, Marcus Rashford scored United’s third goal of the game after a beautiful individual effort but his celebrations were cut short after a VAR review showed that he handled the ball during his encounter against James Tarkowski.

Many thought the goal should have stood as Rashford didn’t intentionally control the ball with his hand and Erik ten Hag also echoed the same thing.

Speaking after the win, the Dutchman said: “When I see it, I can’t see [why] they cancelled the goal. It doesn’t have an effect on the result, if it had then I would stand here different!”

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 700th career club goal against Everton with a beautiful left-foot strike. Erik ten Hag was pleased with the Portuguese star’s performance against the Toffees.

“It’s a massive performance, I’m really happy for him that he’s achieved something like this, that you’ve scored so many goals. It tells a lot about him and his massive career,” Ten Hag reacted to Ronaldo’s 700 career club goals.

David de Gea has his say on the 37-year-old forward: “He’s [Cristiano Ronaldo] never been in this situation before [starting on the bench], but the way he works and trains, it’s just unbelievable. It’s not easy times for him, but he showed that he’s a great player.”
