Erik ten Hag has suggested that Manchester United are planning without the services of Anthony Martial in the squad to face Newcastle United.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag isn’t certain that Anthony Martial will be available for the game against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

Man United will host what will be their second home Premier League game since their 3-1 win over Arsenal when they lock horns with Newcastle at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The Red Devils have won their last two home league games against Leicester City and Arsenal and will look to build on that when they welcome the Magpies today. Although Manchester United could be forced to do that without the services of Anthony Martial.

Martial was forced to leave the pitch in the first half during last weekend’s game against Everton with a lower back injury and missed United’s tight 1-0 win over Omonia at Old Trafford in the Europa League.

The France star is a doubt for the game today but Ten Hag believes his side can still do the job without the 26-year-old, who has scored three times and provided two assists in four matches.

”Of course, we hope he will be available but if not, we do it with other players because it’s always about the players who are available and we have a good squad, as you see, and also subs can make a difference,” Ten Hag said of Martial.

“If he is not available, then we have to do it with other players. We will have 20 in the squad and they have to win this game.”
