In recent reports by The Express , it has been revealed that Manchester United are closely evaluating the possibility of reigniting their interest in Barcelona’s talented midfielder, Frenkie de Jong.

Despite their failed pursuit last summer, the Red Devils are rumored to be keen on exploring the opportunity to secure the services of the highly-regarded Dutch international once again during the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona’s precarious financial situation is believed to be a key factor in the potential reshuffling of their squad. The Spanish giants reportedly need to generate £176 million in player sales before they can actively engage in new signings this summer.

In light of these circumstances, Manchester United’s interest in De Jong appears to be strategically timed. The 25-year-old midfielder, who had previously worked with United’s current manager, Erik ten Hag, during their shared tenure at Ajax, could be enticed by the prospect of a fresh challenge in the Premier League.

Since his move to Barcelona in 2019, De Jong has amassed an impressive tally of 178 appearances for the Catalan side. However, it has been suggested that Barcelona intends to renegotiate his contract in the near future, which might potentially influence the midfielder’s willingness to explore alternative destinations.

Despite United’s continued interest in securing De Jong’s services, it is worth noting that the club is rumored to prioritize reinforcing other areas of their squad during the upcoming transfer window.

While the midfield remains an area of consideration, the Red Devils are anticipated to explore a multi-faceted approach to bolster their team, with an emphasis on addressing specific needs and maximizing squad depth.
