Eddie Howe has spoken out on PSG’s controversial penalty in the game against Newcaslte in Champions League.
PSG hosted Newcastle in the Champions League group stage game in matchday 5 on Tuesday, November 28.
The Magpies opened the scoring at the 24th minute as Alexander Isak scored, while PSG equalized in the dying moments of the game as Kylian Mbappe scored from a penalty.
At the 90+8 minute, the Ligue 1 side were given a chance to equalize as Ousmane Dembele’s cross hit Tino Livramento’s body and the ball bounced up onto his arm. After checking it on a pitchside monitor, the referee awarded a penalty for Luis Enrique’s side. The penalty was branded as controversial by some.
Speaking about the decision, Eddie Howe told TNT following the game: “I don’t think that was a penalty. We know that when it hits a body part first and his hands are low, it’s not a penalty.
“I feel really flat, but pleased with what the players have given.”
Currently, Borussia Dortmund lead Group F with 10 points, PSG are second with 7 points. Newcastle and AC Milan share 5 points and are 3rd and 4th.
