The Spain goalkeeper is just 2.50 to sign for the Spanish giants this month following the news that the club (along with their neighbours Atletico Madrid) will be unable to register players in the next two transfer windows.

The bookies have priced up a number of potential signings alongside long-time target De Gea with Harry Kane 8/1 and Everton’s John Stones 25/1 to make the move to the Bernabeu before the month ends.

William Geldart of Ladbrokes said: “Real Madrid’s impending transfer ban could mean a mad scramble to acquire talent and it’s no secret that De Gea remains at the top of the club’s wishlist.”

Ladbrokes latest betting:

Real Madrid January Transfer Window Specials

David de Gea – 6/4 (2.50)

Paul Pogba – 7/2 (4.50)

Eden Hazard – 9/2 (5.50)

Harry Kane – 8/1 (9.0)

John Stones – 25/1 (26.0)

Jamie Vardy – 50/1 (51.0)
