Marc Cucurella wants a move to Manchester City from Brighton. Journalist Fabrizio Romano writes that the 24-year-old player has just submitted a transfer request to Brighton.
“Manchester City and Brighton cannot agree on a transfer fee for the left-back. Negotiations are difficult but will continue. The clubs are expected to come to a decision on the matter soon, although right now the difference between Man City’s offer and Brighton’s request is wide.
The Telegraph reports that the Manchester club will make one last attempt to sign Cucurella.
“Brighton are demanding £50m for Mark – the same amount Arsenal paid the club for defender Ben White last summer – but Man City are not going to offer more than £40m.
Having sold Oleksandr Zinchenko for £32m, the Man City management believes that £40m for Cucurella is a good price. However, Brighton’s stance on the matter remains firm.
Cucurella is keen to move to Man City. He has asked the Brighton management not to block the transfer.
If Man City are unable to make progress in negotiations in the coming days, they will stop communicating with Brighton and start working on other options to strengthen the left-back position. In particular, the club is interested in Borna Sosa from Stuttgart.
Marc played 38 games for Brighton in all competitions last season, scoring one goal.
