Following his penalty miss during Arsenal’s 2-2 draw against West Ham at the London Stadium on Sunday, Bukayo Saka has broken his silence.
Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has spoken out after his penalty miss during the club’s recent Premier League match against West Ham. The Gunners, who had raced into an early two-goal lead, were unable to hold on as their opponents secured a 2-2 draw, handing a boost to title rivals Manchester City.
Saka, who could have put Arsenal 3-1 up in the 52nd minute, missed his spot-kick, paving the way for West Ham to equalize just moments later. However, the youngster took to Instagram to acknowledge his mistake and apologize to his team, stating that he will do everything in his power to make things right.
‘Regardless of the outcome, I’ll always accept my responsibility,’ Saka posted on Instagram. ‘Apologies Gunners, I’ll do everything I can to make it right.
Despite the missed penalty, Arsenal remain at the top of the league table, sitting four points clear of Manchester City, who have a game in hand and are yet to host the Gunners. As such, the North London club remains in the driving seat in the race for the Premier League title, although their margin for error has undoubtedly been reduced.
