Brighton appears poised for yet another shrewd deal, as they are on the verge of securing Boca Juniors left-back Valentin Barco for a mere $10 million.
According to reliable sources at The Athletic, the Argentine talent is scheduled for a medical examination in his homeland this week, signaling an imminent move to Brighton on a substantial four-and-a-half-year contract, with the provision for an additional 12 months.
Brighton’s scouting success in South America has been evident in recent years, with notable signings like Moises Caicedo from Ecuador and Alexis Mac Allister from Argentina. These acquisitions have not only strengthened the squad but also yielded considerable transfer fees when the players moved on. The Seagulls are now poised for a potential repeat performance with the promising left-back Barco.
Since making his debut for Boca Juniors in 2021, the 19-year-old has captured the attention of football enthusiasts with 35 appearances for the Argentine giants. Barco played a pivotal role in Boca Juniors’ journey to their first Copa Libertadores final since 2018 last year.
Known for his versatility on the left and an attacking mindset, Barco’s skill set is expected to be maximized under the guidance of Brighton’s manager, Roberto De Zerbi. The young Argentine’s Premier League journey is undoubtedly one to keep a close eye on.
