Borussia Dortmund are hoping Youssoufa Moukoko will stay at their club, despite protracted talks over a new contract, which has seen the player linked to Manchester United, Chelsea, Newcastle and Barcelona during the January transfer window
18-year-old Moukoko is out of contract with Dortmund at the end of the season, this simply means he is at liberty to negotiate pre contract with any club of his choice since the beginning of January.
Moukoko is a promising German young star, who in 14 appearances in the Bundesliga this season has made 10 goal contributions, netting 6 times while assisting 4 times, a fit, great for his age. He was also with the traveling team of Germany at Qatar for the world cup finals.
Cristiano’s department from the theater of dreams, left a big vacuum that needs urgent replacement. It is understood that Ten Hag is desperate to get a striker, thus the move for Moukoko, should things go well, Moukoko will head to Manchester as a free agent.
Dortmund’s CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, discussed the player’s future on Wednesday night and he confirmed the club would like to keep Moukoko, although he also admitted his public contract situation seems to make talks difficult at the time.
Watzke went on to say that Germany’ inclusion of Moukoko in her 26 man list also gave the young lad a public exposure, which makes contract negotiations a bit hard.
The CEO is hopeful Moukoko remains with the German side.
