Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has described Roy Keane as the ‘best’ captain ever and spoke well of ‘very good’ guy Rio Ferdinand.

Ronaldo returned to Man United last year in a bid to advance Manchester United’s chances of returning back to the top and start challenging for top honours.

Since his return, several pundits including Jamie Carragher have questioned Man United’s decision to re-sign a player, who’s in the twilight of his career and Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand have always defended the Portuguese star.

Keane has regularly rubbished the ideas that Ronaldo doesn’t press and plays a role in United’s struggle in the front of goal, while Ferdinand has always advised Manchester United against selling the five-time Ballon d’Or winner because he guarantees 20 goals per season.

And Ronaldo has heaped praise on the duo but claimed that his nice words about his ex-teammates aren’t down to how good they have spoken about him.

As I mentioned many times, Roy Keane for me was my best captain ever. Rio Ferdinand helped me a lot. He was my neighbour, I was his neighbour. So very, very good guys,” Ronaldo told Piers Morgan.

“Not just because they speak good about me, but they were there in the dressing room. Tare football players. They know how players think and behave, etc.”
