Reports have claimed that Wout Weghorst could be heading to Manchester United this month but Besiktas have denied such reports in a statement they released this week.

Several outlets have reported that Wehorst would eventually join Man United this month as the Red Devils are keen on signing a temporary replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

He’s currently on a season-long loan move at Besiktas from Burnley but some reports in Turkey have claimed that the forward could leave the Turkish club this month to favour a return to the Premier League.

Reports emerged this week that Manchester United or other Premier League club could sign the Burnley forward from Besiktas this month whilst on loan in Turkey but would have to pay the Turkish club some amount of money as compensation.

Besiktas reacted by releasing a statement to rubbish such speculation, insisting that the forward is not leaving the club this week.

Weghorst was seen sending his goodbyes to the Besiktas fans over the weekend and this act gave the impression that the attacker could be on his way out of the club this winter.

Official statement from Beşiktaş on Wout Weghorst: “The claim that there is an exit clause in our football player’s contract, stating that his contract can be terminated with a compensation of 2.5 million Euros in case of an offer from the Premier League, is fictitious.

“However, the news that the player in question will leave the team on Tuesday is completely untrue. The initiative regarding Wout Weghorst belongs entirely to Beşiktaş. If there is a development on this issue, the information will be shared.
