Barcelona won’t sign a right-back due to financial issues and will stick with current options, including Sergi Roberto and Jules Kounde.
Barcelona’s pursuit of a right-back in the upcoming summer transfer window has been derailed due to financial limitations. Despite being linked with an extensive list of defenders, the Catalan giants have reportedly decided to stick with their current options for the upcoming season.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Barcelona will not be making any new signings in the full-back position. While the team is currently without a recognized right-back in their first-team squad, manager Xavi has expressed confidence in his existing resources.
One such option is Sergi Roberto, who has been a regular fixture in the position for the past few years. The player has also recently signed a contract extension for another season. Additionally, Xavi has been looking to utilize Jules Kounde as a potential right-back, despite the player’s preference to play in the center of defense.
It remains to be seen if Barcelona’s decision to avoid splurging on a new right-back will pay off. However, it is clear that the financial constraints have forced the club to re-evaluate their transfer strategy for the upcoming season.
