Barcelona is set to embark on a squad overhaul in the summer, as they seek to address their shortage of natural right-backs. The departure of Hector Bellerin to Sporting CP has left the club in a precarious position, leading to speculation that they will be in the market for a right-back in the near future.

According to recent reports, the Blaugrana are closely monitoring the situation of Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard, who is expected to leave the German giants at the end of the season. However, it appears that Barcelona may have another option in mind, in the form of Juan Foyth of Villarreal.

Foyth, who is considered one of the top young full-backs in La Liga and was part of the Argentine squad that lifted the Qatar 2022 World Cup, has been linked with a move to Camp Nou for some time now.

It’s been reported that Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez has requested the signing of the Argentine international, who is known for his versatility and defensive discipline.

However, Barcelona will face a considerable challenge in securing Foyth’s signature. The player is contracted with Villarreal until 2026 and the club will have to dig deep into their pockets, with reports suggesting a fee in the region of €30 million.

The outcome of the operation may also be affected by the future of other players such as Sergino Dest and Franck Kessie, who are likely to make a decision regarding their future in the next three to four months.

In conclusion, the right-back position remains a problem area for Barcelona, and with the club looking to strengthen the squad in the summer, they will have to weigh their options carefully and determine the best course of action to address this issue.
