Barcelona are reportedly considering a summer move for Real Sociedad’s talented winger Takefusa Kubo, according to a recent report by AS. The 21-year-old, who previously spent four years at Barcelona’s La Masia academy between 2011 and 2015, has emerged as a promising prospect with a bright future ahead of him.

After leaving Barcelona, Kubo returned to Japan before making a comeback to Spain when he was signed by Barcelona’s arch-rivals Real Madrid in 2019. However, due to the club’s non-EU spot limitations, he was loaned out for three consecutive seasons to RCD Mallorca (twice), Getafe, and Villarreal before joining Real Sociedad permanently last summer.

Since joining the Basque club, Kubo has made an impact and established himself as an integral part of Imanol Alguacil’s side, contributing four goals and seven assists in 26 matches. His impressive performances have reportedly caught the eye of his boyhood club Barcelona.

According to the report, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is a keen admirer of Kubo and sees the young Japanese international as a valuable addition to his squad.

The club’s technical secretariat has reportedly initiated contact with the winger’s agent to inquire about the details of his contract with Real Sociedad. It is worth noting that Real Madrid retains the right of first refusal and 50% of his economic rights, which means they can either match any offer that comes in for Kubo or pocket half of the transfer fee from his sale.

The report also reveals that Kubo’s contract with Real Sociedad includes a release clause of €60 million. However, Barcelona is optimistic about the potential acquisition, as they believe Kubo would be an excellent fit for the team’s style of play. The club has reportedly received positive feedback on the young forward’s attributes, including his pace, creativity, and speed of execution on the pitch.

In conclusion, Barcelona is closely monitoring Kubo’s situation and considering making a move for the talented winger during the upcoming summer transfer window.

If the deal goes through, it would be a significant addition to the team’s attacking options, and it would also fulfill the young Japanese star’s desire to play for his boyhood club.
