In recent developments, both Manchester United and Barcelona have emerged as potential suitors for Bayer Leverkusen’s highly-touted right-back, Jeremie Frimpong, as reported by renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano in his exclusive CaughtOffside column.

Frimpong, a player with prior stints at Manchester City and Celtic, has been making waves with his performances in the Bundesliga, fueling speculation about a high-profile transfer in the near future.

However, it’s worth noting that Frimpong has recently chosen to extend his contract with Bayer Leverkusen, demonstrating his commitment to the German club for the foreseeable future. Romano has further clarified the intricacies of this transfer saga in his latest column. According to Romano, Manchester United’s interest in Frimpong was more pronounced a year ago but seems to have waned during the current transfer window. As for Barcelona, they considered Frimpong as an alternative option in the event they were unable to secure the services of Joao Cancelo for the right-back position.

“Jeremie Frimpong – Another player who’s been on Manchester United’s radar, Jeremie Frimpong has just signed a new Bayer Leverkusen contract after being considered by the Red Devils last year, but not this summer,” .

“Barcelona also considered Frimpong in case they couldn’t get a deal done for Joao Cancelo, but Cancelo was always their number one target for that position.”

Jeremie Frimpong will now be focused on helping Bayer Leverkusen in finishing strong in the Bundesliga as they currently sit top of the league.
