Former world number one Victoria Azarenka commented on the non-admission of the Belarusians and Russians to Wimbledon.

I think people missed a good opportunity to show how sport can unite. I think we missed that opportunity, but I hope we can still show it.

How have I deal with it? I always try to find solutions not only for myself, but that will improve the situation as a whole because I love helping people. I like to find solutions to difficult situations.

The hardest thing was the absolute ignorance and negligence of the other parties. It was hard to come to terms with that. You offer options, opportunities, and your heart and all you get in return is, “We don’t care.

But we move on. It hasn’t changed my outlook on helping people – and it won’t. I don’t think that part of me is going anywhere, so we move on.
