England international Ashley Young has lifted the lid on why he left Manchester United.
Ashley Young has explained the major reason he left Manchester United for Inter Milan, and it’s something similar to Ander Herrera.
Young left Man United to join Inter Milan as a free agent in January 2020 because he felt the Red Devils no longer wanted his services.
The current Aston Villa fullback confirmed that United tried to retain him with a new contract but rejected the idea because the offer came after he had received Inter Milan’s contract offer.
Young was convinced that Manchester United didn’t really value him, otherwise they would have offered him the contract earlier.
That was the same situation Ander Herrera faced at United before switching to PSG at the end of the 2019/2020 season.
Speaking on his decision to leave the Red Devils, Young said: “I had an offer [from United]. It was too late.
“I had made up my mind. For me, if [Manchester] United really wanted to keep me, they would have offered me a contract before [Inter’s] interest arises.”
