Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, expressed his contentment upon hearing the chants of Aaron Ramsdale’s name from the Arsenal faithful.

This vocal support came in response to yet another unsteady performance by David Raya. The Spanish goalkeeper was handed his fifth consecutive start in the Premier League after Arteta’s bold decision to replace Ramsdale, who had previously held the undisputed No.1 spot for two seasons at the club.

Unfortunately, Raya failed to provide a solid validation of Arteta’s faith, and his vulnerability was starkly exposed when Chelsea went 2-0 ahead. A misjudged cross from Mkyhailo Mudryk caught the Spaniard out of position, leading to Chelsea’s second goal shortly after the halftime break.

While Arsenal did manage to mount a late comeback to salvage a crucial point, it was not without more anxious moments involving Raya. He came perilously close to gifting Chelsea a third goal with an ill-advised pass.

Aaron Ramsdale, who was absent from the match due to the birth of his first child, garnered vocal support from the away fans. This show of favor towards his rival must have surely affected Raya’s confidence. Nevertheless, Arteta publicly endorsed the fans’ backing for the England international, stating,

“Great. I love him, I will sing every day for him. We sang a lot for him yesterday because he was a father which is the most beautiful thing to do.”

‘I’m so happy he has this charisma and personality and is someone who is very loved around the team.’

In an enthralling encounter, Arsenal fought back from a two-goal deficit to secure a precious point against their London rivals, Chelsea.
