Arsenal will look to extend their gap ahead of Manchester City when they host Newcastle United at the Emirates tonight and below are the predicted starting lineups for the clash.

The Gunners have lost just once in the Premier League this season and the same can be said of Newcastle United, hence making this fixture a tough one for Mikel Arteta’s men.

Both sides are obviously missing some of their first team players and below are how both Arsenal and Newcastle could lineup.

Arsenal Team News

Gabriel Jesus, Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson are injured. On Smith Rowe, Arteta said: ‘He’s made big steps in the last week. He took part in some training sessions and looked good. We’re hoping to have him back soon.’

Newcastle United Team News

Jonjo Shelvey, Alexander Isak, Matt Targett, Emil Krafth and Paul Dummett are all injured and ruled out of the game. On Matt Target, Eddie Howe said: ‘Matt has a heel problem. He’s been managing it for a couple of months, and it’s got to the point where it’s too painful for him to carry on. I’m not 100 per cent sure how long at the moment.’

Predicted starting lineups

Arsenal: Rasmdale, Zinchenko, Gabriel, Saliba, White, Xhaka, Thomas, Odegaard, Martinelli, Nketiah, Saka

Newcastle United: Pope, Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn, Longstaff, Guimaraes, Willock, Almiron, Wood, Joelinton
